Celebrating Native American Heritage Month

Each year in November, National Native American Heritage Month is celebrated. During this time, we recognize and appreciate the culture, traditions, and stories of Native Americans and Alaska Native communities. It is also a time to ensure that their contributions and rich histories are shared and celebrated with future generations. This month and year-round, MONAH celebrates the culture and heritage of these extraordinary peoples who have and continue to impact and influence the course of history profoundly.

At MONAH, we welcome you to partake in our engaging arrowhead hunt just outside the museum. Upon your arrival, you'll be handed an audio wand; by simply pressing a button, this device will offer you additional insights into the artifacts showcased throughout the museum. We encourage you to visit our shop, which currently features representations from 150 tribes. Don’t miss our Museum Store Sunday event on December 1st, where assorted items are available at discounted prices from 11 AM to 3 PM. Travel through time and discover our museum! We have some great Alaska Native artifacts, one being the Warrior Steel Knife, which can be found in our historic galleries. Be sure to view one of our latest exhibits in the great room, including rare Tribute Points. With only 24 Tribute Points in existence, MONAH proudly houses 15 of them. Join us in celebrating National Native American Heritage Month by visiting the museum!
